ABOUT US TEACHERS

TUIJA HAAPALA

I am a teacher of English and Swedish here in Järvenpää Upper Secondary School. This is my 19th year in our school so I am one of the older generation (though I tend to forget that far too often). My interests include visual art and music so it is especially delightful to be able to participate in a project where the focus lies on these two subjects besides languages and cultural exchange. This is also the third project I participate in with teachers from Instituto Cardarelli, and I look forward to meeting all the participants of this project this year.

MARITA TAPPER

I have been Music teacher here in Järvenpää Upper Secondary school for 15 years. My responsibility beside teaching is to plan and organize music studies for all students in our school and develop Music program. Music program collaborates with local Music Institute, Keskisen Uudenmaan Musiikkiopisto and with Sibelius Academy by having workshop-courses, concerts together and same teacher.  To have possibility to work with so many different and talented people is inspiring part of my daily work.
In my leisure time I love to read, go to exhibitions and concerts, go hiking in the forest and travel.
This is my second time to take part in this interesting project. I look forward to meeting all old  and new friend of project this year.

SANNA MÄKINEN

I am a career counsellor in Järvenpää Upper Secondary School. I have worked here since 2010, but in 2014–2015 I became a student myself, as I enrolled to the University of Eastern Finland to start doing doctoral studies and a PhD. Currently, I am finishing my PhD thesis – dealing with the lives and careers of young people who have dropped out from secondary school – and balancing between work, studies and personal life. I think work as a career counsellor is the best there is: we get to discuss and explore different future possibilities with our Upper Secondary School students. I love to travel and I also like running and other outdoor activities as well as singing and playing the piano. A couple of years ago I discovered my inner painter, so I try to find time for painting whenever I get the chance. I am new in this project, so I am very much looking forward to meet everyone and be a part of this amazing experience.

TEA LINDROOS

I am Järvenpää based visual artist and art teacher. I teach the Art and Media program now for the fifth...or is it sixth... year at the Järvenpää Upper Secondary School. Art and Media program students study six art and media courses in two years. During these courses students will have the opportunity to explore the wide field of visual culture from contemporary art to traditional painting and sculpture to digital image processing and movie making.
I did my BA and MA studies in Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. Before university studies I did my vocational art studies at the Pekka Halonen Academy in Tuusula.
